Costa Rica claims seventh place by defeating El Salvador

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 9, 2010 – Costa Rica defeated El Salvador 25-13, 25-12, 27-25 in a match between Central Americans rivals for the seventh position at the NORCECA Women’s Junior Volleyball Championship. The winners had the advantage in blocks (6-1) and service winners (5-2).

Mariela Soriano and Marcela Araya were the Costa Ricans best scorers with 13 and 10 points respectively while Salvadorian Adriana Flores led all the scorers with 14 points.

“We did a good job and now we go back home with some satisfaction,” Costa Rican Mijal Hines said.

“We played at a good level in the first two sets and in the third set we were able to come back and win the match,” Costa Rica¿s Coach Andres Carvajal said.

“I am happy with the eighth place and also with the chance to participate at this level,” El Salvador’s Coach Nery Henriquez said.
